Is Waitressing A Real Job?

Published by jessburke at 2:43 pm under 1 Edit This

After two weeks of bumming around, unemployed, I decided I was bored (yes, even in Miami. Weird.) I also needed money for cute sundresses.

So I decided to do some waitressing while I waited for a real job to come along. There’s a cute little restaurant down the street called Miami Juice that was hiring, and I managed to get a job there.

It’s like MTV, in a much smaller box:

- The restaurant has celebrity regulars, since it’s a health food/organic place. (Think Jamba Juice on steroids). Yesterday, my first day, I waited on a famous model and her very metro boyfriend. I was also told Lil Wayne swings by for an occasional protein shake.

- The employees have major attitude.   I was laughed at for saying ‘excuse me’. Pushing and ‘yo, white girl, you’re in my space’ are the correct way to get around the kitchen.

But today I’m lazy and don’t feel like working. But apparently, this is a real job and I have to. Ug. Off to Day 2.
