Sneaky Scammers

Published by jessburke at 9:50 am under 1 Edit This

I just got scammed and spammed by a fake unemployment claim website!

It’s bad enough so many people are losing their jobs, do these assholes REALLY need to add to the insult of being laid off?

I started to register on a legit-looking site, but stopped when I started getting pop-ups enticing me to buy instructional books for ONLY $1.99!!!

Shadyyyy

Unfortunately, I had already given them my phone number. So at 9am this morning, I got a phone call.

Me: Hello?

Annoying Girl: HELLO?

Me: Yea, Hello?

Annoying Girl: Can I um, speak to uhhh, Jessica?

Me: This is Jessica

Long Pause

Annoying Girl: CAN I SPEAK TO JESSICA?!

Me: YES, this is Jessica, who is this?

Annoying Girl: This is (blah blah blah from made-up place trying to steal your money), I’m here to tell you how to make money on Ebay!

Me: Seriously? Not interested, don’t call me.

Spammers should be shot.

Lesson learned: always Wiki how-to anything you ever have to know, and only use this site for claiming unemployment: http://www.labor.state.ny.us/ui/how_to_file_claim.shtm
